Magnetostatic field noise near metallic surfaces
نویسنده
چکیده
We develop an effective low-frequency theory of the electromagnetic field in equilibrium with thermal objects. The aim is to compute thermal magnetic noise spectra close to metallic microstructures. We focus on the limit where the material response is characterized by the electric conductivity. At the boundary between empty space and metallic microstructures, a large jump occurs in the dielectric function which leads to a partial screening of lowfrequency magnetic fields generated by thermal current fluctuations. We resolve a discrepancy between two approaches used in the past to compute magnetic field noise spectra close to microstructured materials. Heating of Trapped Particles Close to Surfaces — Blackbody and beyond *
We discuss heating and decoherence in traps for ions and neutral particles close to metallic surfaces. We focus on simple trap geometries and compute noise spectra of thermally excited electromagnetic fields. If the trap is located in the near field of the substrate, the field fluctuations are largely increased compared to the level of the blackbody field, leading to much shorter coherence and ...
متن کاملOrdinal Excitation of Three-Magnon and Four-Magnon Processes of Magnetostatic Surface Waves in YIG Films
Ordinal excitations of three-magnon decay, modulation instability and four-magnon decay processes of magnetostatic surface waves propagating in a pure yttrium iron garnet film are investigated in accordance with the relationship between the magnetostatic wave frequency and the internal magnetic field. Onset of the modulation instability is realized as a result of tnodification of n~agnetostatic...
متن کاملApplication of the fast multipole method for the evaluation of magnetostatic fields in micromagnetic computations
Micromagnetic simulations are elaborated to describe the magnetic dynamics in ferromagnetic bodies. In these simulations, most of the time is spent on the evaluation of the magnetostatic field in the magnetic material. This paper presents a new numerical finite difference scheme for the evaluation of the magnetostatic field based on the fast multipole method (FMM). The interactions between fini...
متن کاملPhase resolved near-field mode imaging for the design of frequency-selective surfaces.
Frequency-selective surfaces (FSS) are a class of metasurfaces with engineered reflectance, absorbance, and transmittance behavior. We study an array of metallic crossed dipole FSS elements in the infrared using interferometric scattering-type scanning near-field optical microscopy (s-SNOM). We resolve the dependence of the near-field phase on the dimensions of the elements and compare with num...
